Horizon Logistics Receives TSA Certification To Screen Air Cargo Shipments in San Francisco  
 
Dear Customer,
 
We are excited to announce that our San Francisco warehouse facility recently received certification by the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) to serve as an air cargo screener under the agency’s Certified Cargo Screening Program (CCSP). We will serve the entire bay area for air cargo departing at the three major airports in San Francisco, Oakland and San Jose.
 
This added capability is a critical differentiator for shippers that want to avoid damage and/or delay from the commercial air carrier screening process.
Our airfreight operation in San Francisco will conduct a physical search on all cargo so shipments do not pass through potentially harmful x-ray machines. We can screen any size or weight shipments and store shipments in our secure facility until loading on commercial aircraft.
As of February this year, the TSA has required that 50 percent of all cargo shipped via passenger flights be screened. In August 2010, the TSA mandate will cover 100 percent of commercial passenger plane air shipments. Working with the TSA, we are providing an additional benefit of providing a cost effective avenue for shippers and small to medium-sized freight forwarders to meet the law's screening requirement.
Certified CCSP facilities must successfully apply, participate and adhere to strict security standards, including physical access controls, personnel security, and screening of prospective employees and contractors to TSA standards. A secure chain of custody must also be established from the screening facility to the loading of the aircraft.
